Three Wishes

Today was the first day of the Society for Children's book Writing and Illustrating (SCBWI) Conference here in Lovely Redmond Washington.  It has been a very informative day.  I have so much new information to process on how to move forward in the children's book market!  Although I feel very humbled by the amazing talent I have seen today, I am also inspired to keep on keeping on and get to the next step.  It's is so hard to silence that inner voice that wonders loudly what the heck I am doing here, but I am going to try to use that sensitive spot that she keeps poking into my side as a reminder to stay true to what it is I love to do, and that is to keep illustrating the stories and images that keep coming to mind!  For me, the next step is to make a dummy book for one of the stories I have written.  So that is what I am going to do, as well as start sending out my portfolio and postcards to publishing houses....Okay...one, two three...GO!

I love your characters. I have so many in my own head that I wish I could get them to look the way I have them in there...on canvas or paper..or anything!!

Ive been looking at the painting you did for Ivan and my itch to start painting and drawing and using charcoal again is really almost bigger than I can contain. I might just have to make myself take some "Me" time here soon and go grab a spot outside and start drawing something. I sure do miss it. :)

I would love to read a story youve written and see how you illustrate it. Let me know if you need a tester :)

Nico--
I love the work you're doing now. So happy that I can now view them on your blog. Also, Hal and I so much enjoyed the video of Vega on her bike. We have to get out there to visit; we're missing too much of Vega's growing up years! I will send copies of the poems that I used for our writers' group reading. Hope you will share your work with me.
Love, Jean
